Which email should a business buy?
Why not just use a free consumer address?
Because it costs you deals. An invoice from yourcompany@gmail.com reads as a side project; one from accounts@yourcompany.in reads as a company. You also cannot control it: the account belongs to whoever created it, not to the business, and when that person leaves so does the mailbox.
Hosting mailboxes vs dedicated email hosting
Mailboxes included with a web hosting plan are fine for low volume — a contact form and a handful of replies. The limitation is the shared IP: your mail leaves from an address shared with every other site on the server, and one spammer among them takes your deliverability down with theirs.
Dedicated email hosting separates the two. Worth paying for the moment mail is how you invoice, quote or take orders.

Honest answer: if your team works in Docs or Teams all day, buy theirs — the email is the cheap part of what you are paying for. If you want professional email on your domain and nothing else, you are paying several times over for features nobody opens.
How many mailboxes do you need?
One per person who sends mail, plus shared boxes for the functions that outlive individuals — info@, accounts@, support@. Everything else should be an alias, which is free. A five-person firm usually needs five mailboxes and about a dozen aliases.

What is business email hosting?
Email on your own domain — you@yourcompany.in rather than a free consumer address — hosted on a mail server with proper deliverability configuration, spam filtering and per-mailbox storage. It is what makes an invoice look like it came from a business.
How much does business email cost in India?
Quoted per mailbox on the storage tier you need. Tell us how many people and roughly how much mail they keep, and we will price it the same day. You pay per mailbox, so five people cost five mailboxes — aliases and forwarders are unlimited and free.
Is this different from the email included with my hosting plan?
Yes, in the part that matters: deliverability. Mailboxes on a shared web host sit on an IP shared with hundreds of websites, any one of which can get it blacklisted. Dedicated email hosting runs on mail-only IPs with proper SPF, DKIM, DMARC and reverse DNS, which is why the mail arrives.
Can I use Outlook, Apple Mail or my phone?
Yes. Standard IMAP, POP3 and SMTP, so any client works — Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Gmail’s app, the stock Android and iOS clients. We send the exact server settings and will set the first device up with you on the phone.
How does this compare with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365?
They bundle documents, drive and video calls and charge accordingly. If you want email on your domain and nothing else, this is a fraction of the price for the same standards-based mailbox. If your team lives in Docs or Teams, buy theirs — we will tell you so.
Will you migrate my existing mailboxes?
Yes, free. We copy every message and folder across with IMAPsync, run both servers in parallel while DNS propagates, and switch MX when you confirm. Nothing is deleted at the old provider until you say so.
What about spam?
Multi-layer filtering with a quarantine you control, plus outbound scanning so a compromised account cannot turn your domain into a spam source. You can whitelist and blacklist per mailbox or per domain.
What are the IMAP and SMTP port numbers?
IMAP over SSL on 993, POP3 over SSL on 995, and SMTP submission over TLS on 465 or 587. Never use the unencrypted ports — see our guide to email port numbers for what each one does.
Do you support catch-all and forwarding?
Yes, both, at no extra cost, along with unlimited aliases. A catch-all is convenient but attracts spam, so we recommend explicit aliases for anything public.
Is my mail stored in India?
Yes, on our Mumbai and Delhi infrastructure, which keeps data residency simple for organisations that have to answer that question.
